You can use any coil-spring or memory foam mattress, however its important to make sure your mattress has the framework to hold it's shape while stored vertically. If it doesn't, you could find the mattress slouching or sagging over time.
The standard Murphy Bed legs work for a mattress up to 10" thick, and the extended legs are required for mattresses up to 12" thick. To ensure you properly balance the operation of the bed, we recommend having the mattress on-site during the Murphy Bed installation.
